Kokyu: From Breath to Action
The Japanese word “kokyu” refers to “proper breathing that originates from the body.” This concept lies at the heart of Kokyu Studio, which brings together movement, aikido, and theatrical practices.
In this training, we will explore breath, voice, and physical action, incorporating elements of Vsevolod Meyerhold’s biomechanics: balance, impulse, rhythm, coordination, and working with a partner.
No theatrical training is required. The practice develops bodily sensitivity, attention, and the ability to act consciously — skills that extend far beyond the stage.

Actress, director, teacher of theatrical disciplines, playwright, and creator of the independent project project.0.
In 2020, I graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts with a specialization in Drama and Film Acting.
In my second year of studies, I began working at the Youth Theatre in Minsk, where I worked for five years and performed 24 roles.
In 2021, my team and I launched an independent project (project.0), and our first production, “You Don’t Belong Here”, became especially meaningful to me, as it was my debut work as a director and playwright.
(Listed among the banned cultural figures in Belarus since 2022 due to the political situation in the country. Our project was suspended, as all activity must be state-approved. All private theatres in Belarus have been closed since 2020.)
From 2022 to 2025, I worked as an instructor, basing my teaching methods on Meyerhold’s biomechanics and inspiration by the work of Jerzy Grotowski.
In November 2023, I completed a course at the International School of Professions, specializing in screenwriting.

In August 2024, I took part in the summer school of Kokyu Studio at the Jerzy Grotowski Institute (Wrocław, Poland).
In February 2025, I resumed the activities of project.0, which is now based in Wrocław.
In the summer of 2025, I attended the Kokyu Studio summer school once again, after which I became a member of the Kokyu Studio team.
