Kokyu – breath that moves

We invite you to participate in a practical introduction to training and search for answers to questions that are present in the work of Studio Kokyu on a daily basis. The Japanese term “kokyu”, which can be translated as “correct breathing flowing from the body”, is a key issue in the studio’s practice. We observe it both in aikido training and in theater practices that accompany our research. From his perspective, we ask about physical and vocal action, the category of contact, community action, as well as the concept of choir and protagonist. It all starts with the breath and that’s where we look for the answer. The open training is an introduction and an opportunity to see our work “behind the scenes”. The workshop is dedicated to people interested in working with movement, breathing and voice. It is not a strictly theatrical workshop, it is intended to help raise interest, awareness and explore processes that, being basic functions of the human body, have a significant impact on the quality of our lives.
