I Come to You River: Ophelia Fractured

10th and 11th February 2023

 Studio Na Grobli, Grotowski Institute

In "I Come to You River: Ophelia Fractured" we attempt to retell Ophelia's story again, this time with the voices of contemporary young women who are looking for answers to the question about the message that comes from studying this iconic figure today. We shed light on Ophelia so that it will break down and reveal what is hidden in her fate. We observe how the cracks in her image are filled with new content and speak to us, about us. They talk about love and loneliness, about depression, about women and men, about parents, about the system that we are part of, whether we like it or not.

Performer/Warrior:

A series of workshops led by Przemyslaw Blaszczak

"The research and educational cycle "Performer Warrior" was created as a result of research conducted as part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship in 2022. As part of it I will want to share the results of my research, and, together with the participants, ask myself new questions and look for new challenges. The space of exploration between the path of the Performer, especially in the perspective set by Jerzy Grotowski in his text "Performer" and the practice of Aikido, which in my opinion is completely unique among all martial arts, offers an enormously inspiring field for research on the essence of action and the actor himself."

Action Medea

17th December 2022

The presentation of Studio Kokyu's work is a statement from the latest stage of research that the team consisting of Joanna Kurzyńska, Marta Horyza, and Marie Walker has been conducting under the direction of Przemysław Błaszczak since the beginning of 2022.

Interest in the classical text of Euripides' tragedy led us to attempt to confront the material behind one of the most ambiguous figures of European culture, i.e. Medea - poisoner, child killer, sorceress, princess, murderer and avenger raging with despair, and finally a victim of the patriarchal system. Studying, asking questions about Medea is one aspect of our search, while another is the question about the performer, or rather a performer, about the possibility of reducing the stage form to a precise, naked performative structure.
